8 weeks later: reflections, reports & what’s next

Hi folks,

It’s been eight weeks since Responsive Conference 2025. The world continues to be chaotic, but our Responsive peers keep up the good work — adapting, connecting, and leading through change.

Work in Progress – A Report

Virginie Raphael and her team at Work in Progress have just released the Work in Progress report, a free report from Responsive Conference 2025.

This is a beautifully designed paper, which contains reflections from Responsive speakers and attendees about work and how we can adapt to change. Read essays from...

  • Vivienne Ming, PhD — The Purpose Paradox
  • Eldra Jackson III — Humans & Work
  • Suzy Welch — Becoming You
  • Brian Elliott — Standing Up for a Break
  • Doug Kirkpatrick — Watch Your Language

And more...

The Teal Landscape

Friends of Responsive at the Teal Team have put out an annual report about the Teal Landscape. For context and a primer, Reinventing Organizations by Frederic Laloux is required reading!

They conducted interviews with 300+ organizations from around the world to share the latest from companies embracing Teal practices.

Snafu Conference – March 5, 2026

Organizations have to be resilient to survive in the modern world of work. So do individuals. One of the most overlooked skills in the 21st century is the ability to sell — to advocate, influence, and persuade.

To complement Responsive Conference, we’ve launched something new: The Snafu Conference. This event is for anyone who needs to advocate for their ideas, raise funds, or lead with influence — especially if you’ve never thought of yourself as a salesperson.

Like Responsive Conference, it’s built around real conversations, immersive experiences, and a community of thoughtful doers — but this time, the focus is on mastering the art of authentic persuasion.

Join us on March 5, 2026, at the Oakland Museum of California for a day that will change how you think about genuine selling, authentic connection, and storytelling.

Until next time,

Howdy folks - For the tenth anniversary of Responsive Conference, we’ve decided to do something different. The team has just attended Suzy Welch's Convening on Purpose and Flourishing in the Age of AI at NYU Stern, followed by an incredible week at Transform in Las Vegas. There’s a lot of conversation right now about job displacement and the changing nature of work. For a decade, we’ve said predictability is decreasing. This year, it feels like it’s gone. If you listen to AI nihilists, AGI is...

Hello, By now, you’ve seen the news coming out of Minneapolis – and elsewhere – about the use of force by ICE. It’s disturbing, unconstitutional, and not something we can just scroll by and ignore. The question becomes: What does it mean to act together? How do we participate, even when there are differences of opinion and no single clear path forward? Tomorrow, January 30, a 24-hour National Shutdown is taking place in the United States. The idea is simple: If you’re able to stay home from...

Hello there, It’s been a little while, and I’m glad to be back in touch. As we look ahead to Responsive Conference 2026, our focus is sharpening around a central question: The pace of change has become impossible to ignore. How is the job landscape changing – and what those changes mean for our work, our organizations, and ourselves? New tools are entering the workplace quickly and expectations are shifting fast. Roles feel increasingly less defined, and the path forward isn't clear....
