Responsive Conference in two days!

Hi there -

The week is finally here. Responsive Conference 2024 kicks off just two days from now.

Time highlights some of the exciting things that are happening this week, give some shoutouts to the people who made it possible, and give a sneak peak into what happens after.

“The longer you have to wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives.”

- Susan Gale

The Oakland Museum of California

Responsive Conference 2024 is taking place at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA).

OMCA inspires Californians to create a more vibrant future for themselves and their communities.

OMCA explores the big ideas that shape California lives, then bring to life the untold and under-told stories of the people behind them—all with a distinctly Oakland point of view.

They are more than a museum. They’re a museum, garden, and gathering place. Their mission is to inspire understanding and empathy with stories and experiences of California’s art, history, and natural environment to build more equitable and connected communities.

With more than 1.9 million objects, OMCA brings together their multidisciplinary collections of art, history, and natural science, all within 110,000 square feet of gallery space and seven-acre campus.

OMCA is a leading cultural institution of the Bay Area and a resource for the research and understanding of California’s dynamic cultural and environmental heritage for visitors from the region, the state, and around the world.

Walden Pond Books

More than 20 speakers at Responsive Conference 2024 have written or co-written books. All of those will be available to attendees at OMCA, thanks to Walden Pond Books, a local bookstore in Oakland, CA.

Puppies

If you thought Responsive Conference 2024 would be all seriousness – you are wrong. From 12-2pm and 3-5pm both days, we will have puppies for you to cuddle!

And that’s just one of the many examples of fun side quests that you’ll be able to go on during the conference.

Responsive Conference 2024 has everything – from AI to art, and from psychology to puppies.

Attendees will discover innovative practices for fostering belonging, key if you want to scale in 2024 and beyond. Learn how organizations of all sizes, from SMBs to the US government, are implementing tactics to become more resilient and responsive.

Whether you're joining us in Oakland or following from the few selected keynotes we will be publishing online, Responsive Conference 2024 will be a transformative experience.

Together, we will shape the future of work.

If you can’t make it this year, we are back next year for Responsive Conference 2025. Tickets go on sale at the end of this week!

See you next week,
Robin

Hi there - In 2015, the authors of Responsive Org wrote “the future is becoming increasingly difficult to predict.” Today, with global instability, political partisanship, and an ever more rapid rate of change, those words feel prescient. The tension between organizations optimized for predictability and the unpredictable world we inhabit has reached a breaking point. Only organizations built to adapt are going to survive. I founded Responsive Conference because I had witnessed the same...

Hi there – We’re five weeks into 2025 and what a world we’re in. During tumultuous times, I know of no better way to build resilience than to bring people together and so I’m delighted to share some updates about RC 2025. As previously, we’re running the conference at the Oakland Museum of California on Sept. 17-18, 2025. The theme this year is “Design for change.” We are placing a renewed focus on how to build adaptable and resilient organizations amidst rapid change, which the authors of...
